The Ahlmann family was to play a key role in the development of the Carlshütte, and in the founding of ACO. The German-Danish merchant and entrepreneurial family Ahlmann has been resident in Denmark and in the duchies of Schleswig and Holstein since the 16th century. Für die Entwicklung der Carlshütte und für die Gründung von ACO wird die Familie Ahlmann eine zentrale Rolle spielen. Die deutsch-dänische Kaufmanns- und Unternehmerfamilie Ahlmann ist seit dem 16. Jahrhundert in Dänemark und in den Herzogtümern Schleswig und Holstein ansässig. Eine erste Verbindung zur Carlshütte stellt Thomas Jörgen Ahlmann, der Ururgroßvater von Hans-Julius Ahlmann, 1840 her. Er kommt mit Holler ins Geschäft und baut im dänischen Fredericia ein Kommissionslager für die Waren der Carlshütte auf. Von hier aus werden die Carlshütten-Produkte in die skandinavischen Länder vertrieben. Damals gibt es keine Vertreter, vielmehr Großhändler, die vertrauensvolle Partner sind.
